N97 Singalong

Just like the beginning of a Sing-along-Sound-of-Music, where the crowd begins to whisper “she’s coming” as Maria appears over the brow of the hill, so too is the gradual Internet buzz surrounding the announced Nokia N97.

If the early reports are true then the new device available sometime next year for around £440 will be “milestone” in mobile development. Certainly the spec. is impressive, loads of memory (32GB and expandable), good camera and connectivity with bluetooth and Wifi as well as phone connection with HSDPA, a full QWERTY keyboard and no doubt a host of other goodies. No doubt as with the 5800 Nokia will discourage comparison to the iPhone. However touch screen devices are currently firmly associated in the Western public mind with the iPhone so comparison is perhaps inevitable.

The £430 price tag may sound steep but that will be without contract and if the hype is too believed could that replacement laptop that many road warriors are always looking for!

With these new devices the power of convergence technology is increasingly within the reach of business users and consumers alike. With the kind of power the N97 will be offering then its time for business to take the mobile web and its opportunities seriously and seize the day!
