Boxing Clever on the Mobile Olympics
Mobile consumers are demanding more of the web services on offer on their devices. New research from Nielsen suggests “45% of US and 31% of UK” mobile video users will be accessing the Olympics on the go. Boxing and Track Field are among the most popular UK mobile events with Gymnastics and Swimming and Diving holding greater interest in the US.
With 3G connectivity becoming the norm and better viewing screens on many mobile phones, it seems that consumers are increasingly interested in what their devices can offer them in terms of lifestyle enhancement and convenience. The Olympics possibly represent one the largest movements of people across borders and with sports fans wanting the latest news the obvious delivery device is the mobile phone. It is always with its user and has access to the power of the Internet.
In times when much of the economy is fear of a recession is the mobile phone the device that will show the way to new markets and new opportunities bringing added value and a better return on investment on web services?
