Cisco’s later e-commerce report is placing mobiles as the “fourth channel” for retail revenue. The report looked at retailers in North America and Europe and found that nearly half already have some form of a mobile web presence and a smaller number including the web giant Amazon allow sales transactions to be completed via a mobile phones web browser.
The figures are interesting and show that many retailers take the mobile web seriously enough to develop specifically for it. They recognise that it is not enough to reily on 3rd parties to simply adapt their sites but instead they need to take a proactive interesting to ensure that their customers can complete their transactions safely, quickly and reliably.
In recent years the web has broken free from it’s desktop shackles and now can be accessed on phones, gaming devices, mini laptops and touch screens. It can be daunting to think about so many avenues of access, however the companies that reach out to consumers through these new channels will be the pioneers and the first to reap the rewards.
The web is rapidly evolving into a space where your content and customers want to interact with you anywhere and any how. The question is are your ready to let them and make the sales?
